I’ve always been intrigued by Amuse products for their ability to enhance natural glow on the skin and lips, known for their radiant makeup.
Having used the Jung Saem Mool Skin Nuder Cushion for quite some time, I was eager to explore a different option, leading me to the Amuse Dew Jelly Vegan Cushion.
Amuse offers a variety of Cushion Foundation products from Skin Tune Vegan Cushion, Meta Fixing Vegan Cushion, Dew Power Vegan Cushion, to Dew Jelly Vegan Cushion… I had to do some research which one to try.
Why I chose Amuse Dew Jelly Vegan Cushion
After some research, I opted for the Dew Jelly Vegan Cushion, particularly suitable for my current working-from-home lifestyle, promising a natural look that enhances one’s own glow without appearing too makeup-heavy.
However, it’s worth noting that this natural effect comes at the cost of longevity and coverage, as many reviews rightly pointed out.
Amuse Dew Jelly Vegan Cushion Shades
Selecting the right shade was crucial. With five options available (I know, it’s very limited as other K-beauty cushion foundations…); 01 Soonsoo (which means purity in Korean), 02 Nude, 03 Honey, 04 Tan, 1.5 Clear.
I chose shade 02 Nude, preferring a slightly lighter tone than my actual face tone.
You can see that it is slightly brighter than my hand’s shade.
I thought it’d be helpful to compare with the shades of the other cushion foundations that I have; Jung Same Mool SKin Nuder Cushion Medium and Clio Kill Cover High Glow Cushion Linen.
By the way, you can see that Amuse Cushon case is quite thick in height compared to other ones. I also saw many reviews saying that it is too big to carry it in a hand bag.
Ok, so back to the shades. You can see that Jung Saem Mool Skin Nuder Cushion is darkest among the three, and Amuse Dew Jelly Vegan Cushion is quite pinkish while Clio’s more towards yellow base. It indeed was helpful to compare the shade with other cushion products!
You can also see that Amuse Dew Jelly Vegan Cushion has most transparency while Jung Saem Mool Skin Nuder cushion has the least. Meaning that Amuse Dew Jelly Vegan Cushion has the lowest coverage while Jung Saem Mool Skin Nuder cushion has the highest.
My Experience with Amuse Dew Jelly Vegan Cushion
So I used Amuse Dew Jelly Vegan Cushion for a couple of weeks and as others said in the reviews, it has really minimum coverage. I thought the minimal coverage would be ok for me, but it became increasingly dissatisfying. What’s the point to wear a cushion if I almost don’t see the difference?
It also did not last, so I had to keep re-applying it. And the worst part was… that it also triggered breakouts on my skin. While initially subtle, I noticed the emergence of tiny pimple-like blemishes on my face after using the product. Doubtful of its cause, I conducted a controlled experiment, using the cushion again on subsequent days while refraining from introducing any other new products into my skincare routine. Regrettably, it became evident that the cushion was indeed the culprit behind my skin breakouts, leading to a discontinuation of its use.
When it comes to the ingredients, it seems to have only a couple of cautious ingredients (based on Hwahae); Alumina, Retinyl Palmitate, and Fragrance.I suspect that Retinyl Palmitate might be the culprit behind the irritation on my skin, particularly since it’s the sole ingredient absent in both the Jung Same Mool Skin Nuder Cushion and the Clio High Glow Cushion, neither of which caused any breakouts.
It’s worth noting that all three cushions share Alumina and Fragrance components. This observation highlights the importance of understanding individual sensitivities to specific ingredients!
Regrettably, my experience with the Amuse Dew Jelly Vegan Cushion was not as hoped, leading to its discontinuation after just a few weeks of use. Such moments are undeniably disheartening, especially when expectations fall short of reality. Compounding the disappointment is the fact that I still have a brand new refill!!
Conclusion
In conclusion, my encounter with the Amuse Dew Jelly Vegan Cushion was solely based on personal experience. While many reviews praise it as a holy grail product, dubbing it their “life cushion” or the best cushion they’ve ever used, my experience unfortunately didn’t align with these sentiments. However, I hope this review provides valuable insights to those considering trying it out. Remember, individual reactions to products can vary, so it’s essential to weigh multiple perspectives before making a decision.
